The training activities are supplemented by skills and knowledge orientated training activities by a Network of Indian training Institutions with about 40 different courses all over India.

The 3 training courses (6 weeks each in India and Europe) for 45 operational and senior officers of the Indian environmental and planning Authorities and Training Institutions are focussed on increasing the competence to implement Spatial Environmental Plans on different levels (State, District and Municipalities) and to improve the development of own capacity building potentials.

Among others the main areas of the exposure in Europe were:

  • Regional and City planning, land use planning, State Development Programmes
  • Urban Renewal
  • Industrial siting and Industrial Estate Planning and Management,
  • Development of projects in the areas of solid and liquid waste management, ecological sensitive areas, ecotourism and environmental city renewal (EcoCities)
  • Environmental Impact Assessment as a tool for siting of projects and spatial environmental planning
  • Administrative procedures in a functioning system of regional planning

The project is developed in close cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and Forests, the Central and State Pollution Control Board(s) and Result Users of spatial planning activities (implementers like Municipal Cooperation’s and Industrial Estate Developers).

The conclusions and results of project work during the training are used for implementation of the spatial environmental planning system in India. Staff of INTEGRATION developed the HRDP concept and guides the implementation since 1996.
